Write for us

Bright Screen Stories welcomes considered pitches about moving images and the choices behind them. We are interested in clear, original writing that helps a general reader see or hear something more precisely, without requiring specialist equipment or access.

What to propose

Pitch a focused piece on framing, editing, sound, story form or screen history. A strong idea has one central question, a distinct angle and a reason it matters to viewers. We welcome explainers, comparisons, close readings and historical context that can be handled with care.

How to shape a pitch

Send a working title, a short account of the argument, the kind of examples you would use and any sources or permissions the piece would need. Please note whether the idea has been published elsewhere or is under consideration elsewhere. Do not send a complete article unless requested.

Where to send it

Send proposals through the Contact page and select the editorial question option. Include enough detail for us to understand the piece, but no private or confidential material. A proposal is not a promise of publication.

Our point of view

A screen rewards a second look.

A moving image is made of choices, not just pictures. Slow down with us to notice what a frame, a sound or a pause lets into view.
